Mission Statement/Introduction
Over the previous 18 plus years, PR Racing, Inc. has been involved within the competitive race/athletic circuit as both a racer and race organizer. Four of those years, I was a dedicated athlete within the Track and Cross Country programs at Stockton College. After college, I have remained on the race circuit since, entering Triathlons, Duathlons, Running races, etc. For the last 10 years, I've have saddled twin responsibilities as both an athlete and race director/organizer, keeping in close touch with this athletic community, from both perspectives.
This year, Atlantic and Cape May County will host at least six multisport athletic events. These "sprint-type" triathlons typically involve a 1/2 mile swim, 20 mile bike and end with a 4 mile run, lasting for some participants, 2 or more grueling non-stop exercise hours. The race, once established, will undoubted draw record numbers to the race, and subsequently to the community. From an organizer's perspective, the consistently increasing trend for larger numbers at these races can be interpreted as a positive reflection of the level of quality and personality within each race. Furthermore, over the past recent years, there has been record breaking growth in the running shoe/bike and similar businesses. The presence of the sport in advertising is a good indication that the sport of triathlon is here to stay.
The health boom of the 1980's and the birth of the sport of triathlon, has continued and grown in strength. It essentially has manifested itself into a lifestyle of the 1990's and beyond. The thrust of this large population cross section, has obviously represented itself in many local, national and global companies. Many companies have seen and analyzed these trends and have begun marketing toward those that share that same active lifestyle. This level of recognition is reflected in adds and commercials of automobiles, sport clothing, sunglasses, food supplements vitamins, etc. Some of those companies that are not interested in the selling of a specific product to the aforementioned cross section, corporately realize the merits of associating their company with a healthy, active and competitive lifestyle.
